December Holiday Meeting 2013
Our holiday meeting on December 19th following the Greens Sale is always such a joy; a time to just relax, enjoy a wonderful luncheon and each other's company. Belonging to a garden club is an opportunity to create such wonderful friendships based on shared passions. As is our custom each member received a “free” raffle ticket for the end-of-the-meeting raffle conducted by Kay Borek and Kathy Cuervels. Our club president Jan Clifford ran an abbreviated business meeting and asked members with ideas on "how to improve the Greens Sale" to send them to her.
News about a ‘Low Light House Plant’ workshop in January was announced with more details to follow. Floral Arranger chair, Mary Cassidy, supervised the Design Challenge exhibit which included 4 trays of functional table scapes with "monochromatic" floral arrangements; Exhibiters were: Ruth G, Anita F, Mary C, & Pat A – Bravo, to all of you who created such a beautiful and interesting design exhibit!
Each year the Yankee Plant Swap adds an element of surprise and a little friendly competition as we vie for our "favorite" plants. This year's selection was wonderful, offering twenty-four house plants, decorated to the max. Master Gardener, Carol Fischer ran the plant swap and offered plant care advice.
The luncheon prepared by our hostess, Donna Marsten and her committee was superb. Marie Ricci designed an elegant winter holiday floral arrangement for the buffet table and Mary Cassidy designed smaller festive winter greens arrangements for each table.
