Call to order: 7:15 pm

Corresponding Secretary (Cindy O) Installation payment and sign up for Members’ Garden Tour/Dinner (June 21)

 

Treasurer’s Report: (John R) CD; March and April's reports presented.

 

 

Assistant Treasurer Report: (Marnie D) Membership Renewal – Process (Installation Mtg & PS then mailing and active solicitation until May 31st); One request for scholarship aid. Motion made by: Ruth G; Seconded by Anneli J to approve 2 new members (Arline Goodman & Anne Vincent). Unanimous.

2011 – 2012 Membership: (111) Members: Honorary member-1; Life members-9: Active Members (dues-paying) -102 and Day-14; Evening-28; Both -70 and Calling Tree-25; E-Mail-88; Membership closed for season until membership drive.

 

BOARD BUSINESS:

Summer work for Archives Committee to research answers to GCFM Club History Project due October 1

Jan C and Colleen L to investigate WGC Business/Membership Cards

Pat A to organize a Member Benefits Chart for web site (Arnold Arboretum, New England Wildflower Society & Mass Hort)

Need to fill Committee Chair Positions Need: FA co-chair; Web site manager, Garden Therapy, Youth? GS, & PS)

Plant Sale Report (Jan C): Up-Date: need red wagons; Kathy C will be in charge of runners; atlas gloves on sale; plant sticks available.

Members’ Garden Tour in June (Pat A) Susan L & Leah S will hostess; time 5-sunset at Marie R & Jan C gardens at 61/57 Shelton Road; rain date on Friday, June 22; flyer & sign up sheet ready for Installation mtg. (flyer for garden strolls also)

Summer Garden Strolls (Marie Z & Elaine McG’s) flyers available at Annual Mtg

Transitions Between Old/New Board Members: Work proceeding among old & new officers/committee chairs

Board Budget Projections (More/Less/Same) general decisions made on funding

Use of Styrofoam at Club Events Committees should avoid using Styrofoam cups for club events

Quincy Farmers Market (Anneli J) Manager Janet Little has asked WGC to plant bean seeds with children on opening day from noon to 2 pm (Pat A, Anneli J & members of youth committee)

WGC Summer Opportunities: Weeding at Corner/Hillside; DQ Homestead, J Quincy House; Brookwood Farm & Peace & Atrium Garden at TC Library.

 

Motion made by Anneli J; seconded by Ruth G to approve the slate of officers for WGC

(Jan C as President, Anita Fasano as 1st Vice President, Colleen Lawlor as 2nd Vice President, Susan Lynch as Treasurer, Marnie Dunn as Assistant Treasurer, PP Janet Lynch as Recording Secretary, and Kathy Ceurvels as Corresponding Secretary) for the term of two years, beginning on July 1, 2012. Passed Unanimously

 

WGC Installation Ceremony (Pat Artis & Jan Clifford) Introduction of Outgoing Officers/Committee Chairs; Introduction of Past Presidents; “Garden Gloves” Ceremony; Presentation of Gifts (Outgoing & Incoming Presidents).

 

President’s Final Comments

4 Years of life-long, wonderful friendships; and working with a dedicated self-less team of officers and committee chairs; working with the new (2008) WGC By-Laws; running business-like meetings according to Roberts’ Rules of Order; strong budget decisions; and LIVING OUT OUR MISSION STATEMENT! I’m really ready to become your past president!
