WGC's 3rd Place Entry in 2014 Boston Flower Show

North Window - Boston Flower and Garden Show in March of 2014

The Wollaston Garden Club participated again in the Amateur Horticulture Division: “Structures with a Small Bay Window with North Exposure".

In 2008, we won a blue ribbon for our east window entry and in 2013 a second place ribbon for another east window entry. With 25-30 club members involved in both exhibits, we hope many of our members will participate again and were excited to provide this opportunity to our new members. North windows are challenging, especially with the need to control moisture in our dry homes during the winter; we are excited to experiment and learn something NEW.

Members of the North Window Steering Committee decided that this year, that club members would purchase their own north window plants (ie ferns) from a list provided by Horticulture chair, Cynthia Lewis. Rebecca D. and Carol F were responsible for correct nomenclature and identification of  plants. Ruth and Cynthia were responsible for staging and arrangement. Pat A managed logistics and Anne Marie B and Leah S assisted in set-up.
