Horticulture Field Trip to Cochato Nursery - 2012
On Saturday, May 12 an enthusiastic group of us met at Cochato Nursery for a tour with co-owners Chuck Doughty and Sue. The display gardens at Cochato are spectacular! Chuck and Sue have a
talent for combining plants for color and texture and mixing in native shrubs. Many of the gardens are shaded and we were inspired with the use of hosta, dwarf conifer, and grasses along with
liriope, huechera, astilbe, and sedges. We particularly enjoyed their front road-side garden where house plants, wintered over in the attic of their home, are planted each spring to create
an incredible entry-way garden. We enjoyed shopping in the nursery; this nursery has the largest collection of hosta in all sizes and colors we have ever seen. Some of us enjoyed lunch together
a local restaurant. Chuck and Sue will be presenting a program on plant combinations this upcoming year at a monthly meeting.
